(From Left to Right)
Washi tape - You already know how much I love Washi tape but it actually comes in really handy sometimes, for example, I had a car that was giving up on itself and during one of these drives to Switzerland, the bumper decided to become unattached at one end, luckily I had a trusty roll of Washi tape to stick it back on until I got home!
Phone Charger - This is pretty self explanatory but if, like me you use the bluetooth function on your car stereo to play music from your phone, you're going to drain your battery, no our car doesn't have sockets in it but we have a USB plug that plugs into the cigarette lighter - so handy!
Sunglasses - Good for the glare and good for the hair - if your hair is looking less than tidy, pull it back and try and tame it with the sunglasses on the head trick!
Notebook - I don't know why but Tim and I always have our in-depth conversations on one of our many road trips, and a notebook comes in handy when you have either creative ideas, need to jot something down so you don't forget it, write a list of gifts you need to buy etc etc
Snacks - Yeah I know, I'm sat in a car for 9 hours and I'm munching on a bar of chocolate, I'm never going to lose those calories! But a tasty treat can certainly lighten the mood when you're both getting sick of being stuck in the car! My bestie, Batten sent me this bar of galaxy and some other beautiful gifts in a little package for my birthday :)
Hair Brush - You stop at a garage and look in the mirror quickly, and you'll be glad you kept the hairbrush in your bag instead of the suitcase in the boot!
Make Up Bag - I don't usually keep my entire beauty regime in my make up bag, the rest of the lotions and potions will go in the suitcase but the stuff I feel I can't be without are usually the face powders and the moisturiser as car travel either makes me really greasy or really dry!
Leggings - This is more of a 'decide on the day' essential, I'm currently wearing a dress that stops a little above the knee as its warm here, but 9 hours to the West and it could be raining and cold!
Lightweight Scarf - I am a big fan of scarves, I have millions, I'm not talking a big, woolly number, like a nice, light summery one! If I decide to leave the house without make up on and I'm feeling a little gross, I'll chuck a scarf on and it immediately makes me feel better! It also helps if your hair is looking pretty jaded from the journey! Or maybe you dropped some of that galaxy on your top and need to hide it!
Flower Clips and Bobby pins - I always have these in my bag, especially in the summer or if it is windy, if my hair is feeling a little greasy I like to be able to pin my fringe back or if I tie it up and its looking a little boring, pop a flower in!
Compact - This one has a little powder and pad in but this is mostly about the mirror, if you're sat in the back or can't use the car mirror before getting out, then you'll be thankful for a little compact!
Lip balm - I am always applying lip balm, I think that I actually use it to excess and if I am without one my lips go through some kind of crazy withdrawal stage and punish me by getting super dry!
Mints - Handy to have when you need freshening up and also good if you're feeling a little nauseous in the car!
Passports - This is one of those make or break items as we have reached the border before and realised one of us (ahem, Tim) forgot our passport, there wasn't any guards at the border but its definitely not worth the risk!
Car Documents - A legal requirement and also if you get into an accident, you'll be face palming if you don't have your insurance documents!
Head Band - I think by now you get that I've got unpredictable hair and need to take precautions, I love this little handy headband, which you can make by clicking here!
Those are pretty much my essentials, what essentials do you have for travelling?
I will be back on Saturday and am already planning a really fun craft DIY for Sunday!
Have a great weekend everyone and Thanks for reading! Yasmin x
