Quick & easy abstract flower card!

I LOVE sending and receiving little notes and cards to my family and friends, but sometimes I feel a bit let down by the selection in shops and don't usually stock up on a few to keep at home. Which leads to waking up in the middle of the night panicking as you've forgotten a birthday and have no cards quickly write and post first thing in the morning, well, I present to you a solution!
This is the perfect tutorial if, like me you're not particularly talented in the art department!

Supplies:
Sketchbook paper
Watercolour pencils
Water
Paint brush or cotton buds

Firstly, draw the outlines of the flowers, it really doesn't have to be perfect and they can overlap. When you have done that, shade them in, again, it doesn't have to be perfect, this is the beauty of a quick and easy DIY! I chose to do a few different shapes and colours for the middle of my flowers but it will still look pretty if they are all one colour and pollen-less!

Next, take your paint brush or cotton bud, I like to use cotton buds as you can use one for each colour and theres no risk of dark colours ruining the lighter colours! Dip into the water and brush slowly around the outside of the petals, then, using a circular motion, do the inside of the petals, leaving the middle dry.

When the petals are done, use the other end of the bud and merge the outside of the pollen-bit (official scientific term) with the petals for a soft gradient effect.

Finish off all your flowers and allow to dry!

I chose to make two small cards, but you could also make four postcards or one big card, either way the end result is a bright, pretty and easy to make greeting card which anybody would be happy to find in their mailbox!

Thanks for reading! Yasmin x
