DIY Geometric Dreamcatcher!

So this post kind of follows on from the last of cheap and easy DIYs to bring some colour into your apartment, I love Dreamcatchers so I thought I'd show you a very easy way of making one with a modern twist! I also used some more scrap fabric pieces for this DIY so I'm covering every topic!
To start, you need a hoop of some sort, I used the lid from a tub and cut the middle out, you could use wire, a crochet hoop or even create one out of papier mâché!

I then wrapped scrap fabric around the hoop, using colours that would match my bedroom colour palette!

So this is the fiddly/annoying bit! You want to start by tying a knot and then pulling the thread across to form a straight line, then, tie another knot... This will make sense I promise!

Okay so.. keep doing that around the hoop and you should have something like this (above)! Tie a secure knot at the end as its important that all the thread stays tight.

So as its a modern take with a geometric twist I decided to go for a heart shape as the big pattern and then started to wind around it, every time you cross a thread, make sure to knot it!

Slowly your design will get more complex and prettier!

I had some samples of leather in bright blues left over from an old project so I decided to put them to use for this one, I cut them each into feather shapes for the bottom of my dream catcher!

I then used seed beads and more thread to turn them into the little dangly bits!
All thats left to do now is put everything together and hang it up!

And there we go!

Ta-dah! I love this little guy! And I think he makes a great addition to our bedroom!

Thanks for reading! Yasmin x
