Simple Clothing Customisation!

Hello! I hope you're having a good start to the week, its finally stopped raining and the sun has come out in full force! My summer wardrobe isn't especially bright, I'm more inclined to buy neutral pieces and accessorise with a bright scarf, bag or jewellery. I am, however, extremely obsessed with tshirts that have little pockets on, and even more so when those little pockets have a fun pattern on!
I bought this fabric paint from bastelprofi.ch which you may have already seen on this headscarf tutorial, and have been dying to paint something else!
I've got two vest tops, complete with pockets and have decided to do a little pocket customisation DIY as its so easy to up cycle an old piece of clothing and not only give it a new lease of life but also make it unique!

For this grey top I wanted to do mini dots on the pocket, so, rather than using a paintbrush, i used the flat end of a bbq skewer which you can get at co op.
Firstly, I folded some kitchen roll and placed it inside the pocket so that no paint seeped through the other side.

After I'd gone all dotty on the pocket, I decided to add a little Caribbean blue!

I had to dot the blue over white dots so it had a more vibrant colour, I only coloured in a few dots for a cute, minimalist pop colour! Then I set the vest top aside to dry.

My next top was an oversized, pink vest top. I decided to do large spots on this one and used a bottle cap to achieve a perfectly round spot!

As the spots were big I needed to have some spots overlapping the pocket, I didn't want any excess paint to go onto the body of the top so I taped some kitchen roll to the edge of the pocket to protect it.

When the paint has dried fully, place a thin cloth or piece of scrap cotton fabric over the paint and lightly iron on the cotton setting to seal it.
Then wear!

Ta-dah! What will you paint on your pockets? :)

Thanks for reading! Yasmin x
